Last week, Beau was honored by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for his work protecting children.

Beau's brother Hunter accepted the award on Beau's behalf. I wanted to share a little of what he said with you:

"[Beau] knew the surest way to end child abuse was to shine a bright light on it... that our kids should grow up safe, in a world free from abuse and neglect. That they're the future, and that we all have a responsibility to protect them."

The Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children is continuing that work today by educating adults about how they can spot and ultimately prevent child abuse. We're talking to school aged kids about making smart decisions online and avoiding risky behaviors that open them up to predators. We're working to find the next generation of child protection professionals. And we're going to make sure Delaware's child protection laws are a model for the other 49 states in our country.

But we need your help.

It costs $7 for us to train one adult in Darkness to Light's Stewards of Children program, the evidence-based child abuse prevention program you've heard me talk about. In April, we trained over 300 people - from teachers and doctors to police officers and members of the Delaware National Guard.

Before school lets out for the summer, we want to train another 400 people. We're asking for your help underwriting this project. Can we rely on our grassroots network to raise the $2,800 we need to train these folks?

Only we can continue the important work that Beau started. And together, we can make sure that no Delaware child has to grow up in an abusive atmosphere.
