Growing up in Rolla, I quickly learned the importance of public service from my father, Mel Carnahan, a member of the local school board. He taught me so much about giving back to my community -- that’s why during my time as a Missouri state representative and a U.S. Congressman, I developed a reputation for listening, connecting with people, building coalitions and getting things done for the people I had the honor to represent.

Missouri has provided me, my wife Debra, and our two sons with so much opportunity. That’s why I’m running for Lieutenant Governor -- so I can serve the people of Missouri who have given me and my family so much. Together, we can make sure that the next generation of Missourians is better off than the last.

As Lieutenant Governor, I will work every day to clean up the mess the Republican controlled legislature has made in Jefferson City, where too many of our elected officials are disconnected from the concerns of hard-working Missourians. I will work across the aisle to invest in our infrastructure, create good paying jobs, and give students access to the great universities Missouri has to offer.

I promise to work hard every day to help our state thrive. And I’m hoping you’ll be with me in my campaign for Lieutenant Governor.
