Rice carried 16 times for 63 yards and two touchdowns, and turned his only reception into a 43-yard gain in Sunday's 31-29 win over the Cowboys. Joe Flacco missed Rice wide open in the end zone twice, but on both occasions Rice ran for a one-yard score on the next play. Dallas dominated the time of possession, so Rice only had 16 carries despite a balanced game plan that saw Joe Flacco attempt a season-low 26 passes. The Ravens are set to face Houston next week, and while Rice is a must-start regardless of opponent, it figures to be one of the toughest matchups he'll see all year.

Rice had 16 carries for 63 yards and two touchdowns Sunday against the Cowboys. He also added one 43-yard catch. 106 total yards and two scores is a very nice effort against a strong Cowboys defense. Rice remains one of the game's elite running backs and he's got a great matchup next week when the Ravens visit the Panthers.

Will the 14 rushing TDs recur? We doubt it. But running will still be part of his game, and he can improve as a thrower.

Fitzgerald caught six passes for 93 yards and a touchdown in the Cards' loss to the Bills on Sunday. Starting quarterback Kevin Kolb went out with a rib injury, and backup John Skelton has historically looked Fitzgerald's way more often. Look for Fitz to see an increased number of targets if Skelton stays at quarterback.


Trent Richardson - (Mon, Oct 15, 2012)
According to coach Pat Shurmur, Richardson is currently dealing with a right rib cartilage injury and is considered day-to-day, the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot reports. We'd expect Richardson to either miss some practice or be limited in the coming days, but whether or not he suits up this weekend against the Colts will probably end up being a pain tolerance-based call. If Richardson ends up being scratched or limited at all by the injury, then Montario Hardesty would be in line for added work.

Richardson (ribs) has an MRI slated for Monday, ESPN.com reports. Richardson, who sat out most of the second half of Sunday's game after taking a shot to the ribs, isn't too worried about missing Week 7's game against the Colts at this point. "I took a shot, but I'll be back," Richardson said Sunday. "I'll be ready for next week." That said, Montario Hardesty is next in line for carries if Richardson ends up being limited at all this coming weekend.

Richardson (ribs) will undergo an MRI on Monday, the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot reports. The injury isn't considered to be too severe, but Richardson will undergo an MRI after previously stating that the rib injury wouldn't require one. More will be known about his Week 7 status following the MRI, but he has a great matchup against the Colts next week, who gave up 252 yards on the ground to the Jets in Week 6. Consider him questionable for the time being.

Richardson (ribs) expects to play next week, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Richardson also said his injury will not require an MRI, so it likely is not too severe and he should be able to go next week against an Indianapolis defense that allowed 252 rushing yards to the Jets Sunday.

Richardson was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Bengals with a rib injury. Before exiting, he compiled just 37 yards on 14 carries and brought in two receptions for 17 yards. Initial reports seem to indicate the injury is minor, but perhaps more concerning is the fact Richardson struggled while active in what appeared to be a very favorable matchup. He remains a nice option in all formats if he can return next week at Indianapolis, though he may share carries with Montario Hardesty who ran well in his absence.

The injury that has forced Richardson out of Sunday's game against the Bengals is now being referred to as a rib issue. His return has been termed probable, which suggests that he is dealing with a minor injury here, but as long as he is ailing, Montario Hardesty will see added touches.

Frank Gore - (Sun, Oct 14, 2012)
Gore carried the ball just eight times for 36 yards and caught four passes for 20 yards during Sunday's 26-3 loss to the Giants. The 49ers came out with a more pass-oriented game plan from the start and that made it difficult for Gore to build any momentum or help establish the ground game. He did have a pair of runs, one for 10 and one for 13, early that showed promise, but offensive coordinator Greg Roman was committed to trickery with Colin Kaepernick and a larger passing game despite Alex Smith's early struggles. The offense will likely go back to its running roots next week when they take on division-rival Seattle, but it won't be an easy match-up for Gore.


Jeremy Maclin - (Sun, Oct 14, 2012)
Maclin had six catches for 130 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Lions. Maclin was targeted a team-high 10 times and seems to be over the hip injury that slowed him down previously. He's got three touchdowns in five games this season but fantasy owners will have to look somewhere else for a wideout next week as the Eagles go on bye.


Vernon Davis - (Sun, Oct 14, 2012)
Davis caught just three passes for 37 yards during Sunday's loss to the Giants. Credit Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell and his staff for this one as the Giants mixed up several different coverage looks that helped neutralize Davis. It was the second time this season Davis was held to under 40 yards and his third straight game without a touchdown. He'll look to rebound next week, however, the 49ers face a short week and a tough Seattle defense with stronger numbers than those of the Giants.


Tony Gonzalez - (Sun, Oct 14, 2012)
Gonzalez caught four balls for 42 yards in Sundays win over the Raiders. Gonzalez is tied for first in receptions through six weeks, and is one touchdown away from 100 career touchdowns. He won't get that touchdown next week, as the Falcons have a bye in Week 7.

Romo completed 25-of-36 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in Sunday's 31-29 loss to the Ravens. The first-half interception cost the Cowboys a shot at a field goal, which ended up being crucial in a two-point loss, and while Romo led the offense on an impressive two-minute drill to give them a chance to tie the score at the end of the game -- Dez Bryant dropped the two-point conversion -- he also botched the clock management after Dallas recovered an onside kick to give them one last shot, forcing Dan Bailey to attempt a longer field goal than necessary. In short, it was a very Romo-esque game in which the bright spots don't quite outweigh the mistakes.

Tate (toe) rushed for 14 yards on three carries in Houston's loss to Green Bay on Sunday. Tate, who sat out last week's game because of his toe injury, never had a chance to contribute as the Texans got behind early and were in catch-up mode most of the night.

Tate (toe) is listed as probable for Sunday night's game against the Packers, Nick Scurfield of the Texans' official site reports. The probable designation should ease the concerns of Tate owners who had been troubled by the Texans' late kickoff and the possibility of a questionable tag, but the fact remains that his upside is capped by the presence/health of starter Arian Foster, who leads the league with 132 carries.


David Akers - (Sun, Oct 14, 2012)
Akers was 1-for-3 on field goal attempts today, connecting from 43 yards out, but missing from lengths of 42 and 52 yards. It was a tough day for the normally reliable Akers that started with a miss on his first attempt when he sailed the kick wide right. He is now 11-for-16 on the season but just 7-for-12 on kicks over 40 yards.


Brent Celek - (Mon, Oct 15, 2012)
Celek caught four passes for 33 yards against Detroit on Sunday. Through six games, Celek has 25 catches for 357 yards and one touchdown. The numbers are consistent with his past production, a 971-yard, eight-touchdown 2009 season aside. He might end the year as a top-15 fantasy option at tight end, but his upside probably isn't higher than that.


Alex Smith - (Sun, Oct 14, 2012)
Smith completed just 19-of-30 passes for 200 yards with three interceptions against the Giants on Sunday. As poor a game as Smith played, most of the credit needs to go to the Giants defense as their secondary was first-rate in coverage and their pass rush was strong. Also working against Smith was that the 49ers' offensive line was beaten up all afternoon, allowing six sacks, and also lost tackle Joe Staley early in the third quarter to a concussion. But Smith is not above reproach here as two of his three interceptions were early-game rally-killers and his timing was off all game long. To make matters worse, offensive coordinator Greg Roman's increased usage of Colin Kaepernick has now begun to stir the pot and spark talk of a quarterback controversy. Smith should still be under center for Thursday's game against the Seahawks, but he's sure to spend the short week answering questions regarding Kaepernick and a battle for the position.

Smith (finger) is active for Sunday's contest versus the Giants. As expected, Smith will be under center following full participation in practice throughout the week. The Giants' pass defense is ranked 22nd in the NFL with 261.4 yards allowed per game, which should provide ample opportunity for the league's leader in quarterback rating to rack up the yards.

Smith (finger) is probable for Sunday's game against the Giants, the Sacramento Bee reports. Smith should be a go for Sunday, so feel free to use him as you normally would. The Giants are notoriously strong up front on defense, but the secondary is incredibly vulnerable so there should be some nice opportunities for the San Francisco passing game.


Denarius Moore - (Sun, Oct 14, 2012)
Moore had five catches for 104 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Falcons. Moore was targeted a game-high nine times and did all he could to lead the Raiders' receiving corps. He has scored two touchdowns in the last three games and should benefit if Darrius Heyward-Bey can return to form soon.
