Cam Newton - (Sun, Oct 28, 2012)
Newton connected on 20-of-39 passes for 314 yards, but had no touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's loss to the Bears. Another unimpressive performance for Newton. His fourth quarter interception was returned for a touchdown and gave Chicago the lead. Newton also rushed for 37 yards on five carries, but fumbled twice. Fortunately, the Panthers recovered the ball both times he coughed it up, including one for a touchdown. Going forward, Newton will have to improve his ball security and accuracy. Next week's match up against the Redskins appears more favorable.

Larry Fitzgerald - (Mon, Oct 29, 2012)
Fitzgerald caught five passes for 53 yards Monday against the 49ers. Even with John Skelton throwing it 52 times, most of Fitzgerald's production came in garbage time on the final drive of the game. Fitz did rack up 11 targets on the night (tied with Michael Floyd and Andre Roberts), but shaky quarterback play is going to continue to limit his numbers.

Richardson (ribs) racked up 122 yards on 24 carries and scored on a 26-yard first-quarter run Sunday versus the Chargers. Richardson looked fully recovered from his rib injury and was running hard. His heavy workload is also a good indicator of his health. He added one reception for 12 yards to his final line and is safe to start in nearly all leagues moving forward.

Richardson (ribs) is active for Sunday's game against the Chargers. While the active status is a positive sign for fantasy owners, it's unknown just how many touches Richardson will get. It could take one good shot to the ribs to potentially knock him out of the game, so Montario Hardesty could very well see plenty of touches himself.


Trent Richardson - (Sun, Oct 28, 2012)
Richardson is expected to play Sunday against the Chargers despite his rib injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Richardson owners should still verify his status as the Browns' 1:00 ET kickoff approaches, but it appears as though the rookie back plans to tough it out through his rib issue Sunday. How much work he'd be in line to see will likely turn into a pain tolerance/flow of the game deal with Montario Hardesty in line for added touches if Richardson needs relief.


Trent Richardson - (Fri, Oct 26, 2012)
Coach Pat Shurmur said that the Browns plan to wait until Sunday before deciding if Richardson (rib cartilage, questionable) will play against the Chargers, NFL.com reports. On a more promising note, Shurmur said that Richardson went through three good days of practice and looked better this Friday than last. At this point, Richardson's ability to absorb contact is the prime concern, but fortunately for those inclined to roll with him this week against the stout Chargers' run D, the Browns kick off at 1:00 ET.


Frank Gore - (Mon, Oct 29, 2012)
Gore (ribs) had 16 rushes for 55 yards and one catch for 11 yards Monday against the Cardinals. Gore did not seem all that hampered by the rib injury but was bottled up a bit by the Cardinals' defensive front. Backup Kendall Hunter did see 11 touches, but most were in clock killing mode with a big lead. A Rams' team giving up 105.5 YPG on the ground is next up after the bye, so Gore should be near full health by then.


Frank Gore - (Mon, Oct 29, 2012)
Gore (ribs) is active for Monday night's game against the Cardinals. Feel free to roll with Gore, who has averaged 85.9 yards per game to date, as you normally would this week. Both Brandon Jacobs and LaMichael James are inactive for the 49ers on Monday, a sign that there isn't much concern about Gore's rib issue.

Gore (ribs) is probable for Monday night's game against the Cardinals, CSN Bay Area reports. Gore was a full participant in practice this week, and figures to benefit from having a full 10 days off since the team's last game. In that last game, Gore rushed for 131 yards on 16 carries against an elite Seahawks defense. Arizona's 20th-ranked run defense should pose much less of a threat for Gore, meaning another big day could be on tap.

Gore (ribs) was a full participant in practice Friday, the 49ers' official site reports. With another full practice Friday, Gore should be good to go Monday against Arizona. He hasn't been limited in practice at all this week after suffering bruised ribs during last Thursday's game against Seattle.


Jeremy Maclin - (Mon, Oct 29, 2012)
Maclin caught six passes for 33 yards against Atlanta on Sunday. Michael Vick couldn't get the ball moving downfield at all against the Falcons, and Maclin's production suffered for it. He's a good player, but Maclin's numbers will continue to be limited as long as Vick struggles, which is the case much, if not the majority, of the time.


Vernon Davis - (Tue, Oct 30, 2012)
Davis caught just two passes for 34 yards against the Cardinals on Monday night. It was another disappointing night for the 49ers tight end as he saw just two targets all game. The Cardinals defense did a good job of containing Davis and closing off his routes, but just as Davis complained last week, offensive coordinator Greg Roman failed to make any changes to the overall game plan and opted to use other receivers in lieu of Davis. With back-up tight end Delaine Walker continuing to see action in the passing game there's a good chance that we'll hear some backlash from Davis who is clearly becoming more an more displeased with his current role in the offense.


Vernon Davis - (Mon, Oct 29, 2012)
Davis has failed to find the endzone over his last three games and now faces a tough Week 8 match-up with the Arizona Cardinals and their fourth-ranked pass defense on Monday night. Davis' touchdown drought has been bothersome for fantasy owners, but the decrease in targets and overall fantasy production has been even more unsettling. Davis complained recently that defenses were taking away his normal routes and that offensive coordinator Greg Roman hadn't been making the necessary adjustments, so it should be interesting to see the way things go this week. In two games against the Cardinals last season, Davis had a total of six catches for 99 yards and one touchdown, but this seem s to be a much more formidable defense this time around.

Gonzalez caught three balls for 29 yards Sunday against the Eagles. Despite having a quiet game Week 8, Gonzalez is tied for the league lead in receptions among tight ends with 43. The veteran is having a great season, and he'll look to haul in his 100th career touchdown on Sunday Night Football in Week 9.

Romo completed 36-of-62 passes for 437 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions Sunday against the Giants. With the Cowboys down big early in the game, the team completely abandoned the run and let Romo air it out, which was a bit of a risk given that he threw three interceptions in the first half. Nevertheless, he got the yardage figures to explode, finishing the game with three receivers over 100 yards. With that kind of passing yardage, fantasy owners were surely hoping for more scores, although one late touchdown to Dez Bryant was overturned after a replay showed he was out of bounds before hitting pay dirt. The Cowboys head to Atlanta next week where Romo will try to find success against the 11th ranked defense heading into Week 8.


Ben Tate - (Mon, Oct 29, 2012)
Tate (hamstring) is unlikely to play Sunday against Buffalo, the Bills' official site reports. "He's going to miss some time here, so you're not going to see him back all of the sudden in the next day or two," coach Gary Kubiak said Monday. "I think he's going to miss a little time. He's been working as hard as he can work." As a result, look for Justin Forsett to see backup carries behind Arian Foster this weekend, an assignment with a touch of fantasy upside, given how much trouble the Bills have had stopping the run this season.


Ben Tate - (Mon, Oct 29, 2012)
Tate (hamstring) isn't ready to practice despite the Texans' week off, Tani Ganguli of the Houston Chronicle reports. It's early in the week, but this nugget suggests that Tate's status for Sunday's game against the Bills -- a team that simply can't stop the run -- is in some question.


David Akers - (Tue, Oct 30, 2012)
Akers was successful in his one field goal attempt, a 43-yarder, and was also 3-for-3 in extra points during Monday's 24-3 win over the Cardinals. Akers is now 14-for-19 on field goals this season with a longest of 63 yards. While he is normally a very reliable fantasy kicker, Akers has been running a little cold lately kicking just five field goals over his last four games, but with the 49ers continuing to win, he remains a very viable option.

Denarius Moore - (Sun, Oct 28, 2012)
Moore had five catches on eight targets for 96 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Chiefs. Moore has basically cemented himself as the best receiver in Oakland, scoring a touchdown in four of the past five games. He's got a great relationship with quarterback Carson Palmer and the return of Darrius Heyward-Bey has only helped his production. He could be in line for another solid performance next week against a Buccaneers' defense that was ranked 31st in the NFL coming into Week 8.


Alex Green - (Sun, Oct 28, 2012)
Green had 54 rushing yards on 22 carries and 28 receiving yards on four catches Sunday against the Jaguars. Green's handle on the Packers' starting running back job doesn't appear to be in jeopardy, although he hasn't really capitalized on his opportunity. He has yet to rush for more than 65 yards in a game, since taking over as the lead back and he also hasn't gotten into the end zone. However, he's got a promising match-up next week against the Cardinals, who were ranked 20th against the run coming into Week 8.


Carson Palmer - (Mon, Oct 29, 2012)
Palmer completed 14-of-28 passes for 209 yards in Sunday's victory over the Chiefs. He tossed two touchdown passes but also threw an interception in the game. Palmer was not at his sharpest Sunday, but he did throw multiple touchdown passes for the second time this season, and first time since Week 3. His inconsistency makes him a fringe starter in standard leagues most weeks, but he could be worth using in Week 9, facing a Buccaneers team that is ranked 31st in the league against the pass.
