Highlights of the Reelection of Senator Bob Casey

Now that 100% of the vote has been counted, the following is a summary of some of
the results in the 2012 Pennsylvania U.S. Senate race.


* Despite unprecedented spending by his opponent and outside groups, including $15
million in negative advertising, Senator Casey was reelected by 486,875 votes, a
nearly-double digit percentage margin.

* He received more votes (2,965,896) than any U.S. Senate candidate in Pennsylvania
history.

* His 86.4% of the vote in Philadelphia is the second highest for any statewide
election in the state's history. In three of the four Philadelphia suburban counties
(Montgomery, Delaware and Chester), Senator Casey had the highest vote percentage
of all 2012 Democratic statewide candidates.

* Senator Casey's combined two-election vote percentage of 56.1% is the highest
election/reelection combination of all Pennsylvania U.S. Senators since the 1940s.
The election plus first reelection averages, in order starting from the highest,
are as follows:

* Robert P. Casey, Jr. - 56.1% (2006 and 2012)
* John Heinz - 55.9% (1976 and 1982)
* Edward Martin - 55.5% (1946 and 1952)
* Arlen Specter - 53.5% (1980 and 1986)
* Richard Schweiker - 52.5% (1968 and 1974)
* Hugh Scott - 50.9% (1958 and 1964)
* Rick Santorum - 50.9% (1994 and 2000)
* Joseph Clark - 50.6% (1956 and 1962)
