All-School Diversity Committee Announcements


* The Parents Association's All-School Diversity Committee will hold an evening meeting at the Upper School in the Robert H. Smith Meeting Room on Monday, December 3rd from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on the conversation topic: "Your Child Needs to Speak up More in Class!" We know that within each family, individual children have varying levels of verbal ability; we also know that being a verbal child at Sidwell Friends is a promoted value. The question arises when a student is quiet or not as verbal as other children. How do we create a successful learning balance for all children, regardless of their verbal prowess? Faculty representatives from all 3 campuses will speak to this topic; as always we welcome family insights and interaction on this topic. * The Parents of Black Students cordially invite you to a meeting to discuss the "Top Ten Ways to Help Your Child Succeed at an Independent School". The meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Robert L. Smith Meeting Room. This meeting will feature a presentation by Dr. Linda McGhee, a clinical psychologist in Maryland; as well as perspectives from a panel of faculty members and parents discussing tips and strategies to help your student be successful.
