Dear Friends,

In spite of all the uncertainty in the world today, we have an
extraordinary amount to be grateful for this holiday season. You might
recall that two years ago we brought a worthy charity, The Chicago Food
Depository, to the attention of our dear friends and valued clients. In
spite of our relative size, our company was the third largest donor to
the program, just behind Groupon and Google. For those of you who
donated from around the world under our banner, we are very thankful
indeed for your support of Chicago families in need.

This year, we are supporting one of the lesser known victims of
Hurricane Sandy. Bellevue Hospital in New York City has a very
successful reading program for its pediatric patients, Reach Out & Read

. While children are waiting for their clinic appointments, volunteers
read to them, and help them start their own libraries in homes where
often there are no books at all. As part of their regular check-ups, the
pediatricians at Bellevue evaluate the children's literacy skills and
offer enrichment programs. You can read about the results on their
website, which are both astounding and measurable. This program clearly
demonstrates what a small amount of intervention at an early age can
mean for children.

Sadly, the books used in the program were destroyed in the flooding
caused by Hurricane Sandy. Our family is rounding up some of our gently
used children's books and will be donating them to Bellevue Hospital.
