Hi Folks;
The 6th grade hang out is coming up on Wednesday, November 7th, from 3.30 pm to 5.00 pm, and we hope your children are looking forward to it.
A couple of reminders...
There is still time to send in that special Thanksgiving recipe you've been so wanting to share  (the yummiest dish with the shortest prep) to go with the food baskets for A Wider Circle -- please write in to Carrie Irvin at carrie@irvin.com.
I am also asked to remind you that chaperoning at the hang-out is actually a fun activity, and yes, you are allowed to yell at the kids (just kidding).
In addition to the all-you-can-eat, free pizza that Haleh has already offered, chaperones get to catch up on all the stuff going on at school that your kid forgot to tell you about... we need a few more, so please raise your hands  (EMs go to to Haleh at halehfb@gmail.com).

Dear All;
The first Hangout of the year will be held on Wednesday, November 7th from 3.30 to 5.00 pm, at Wannan Gym. If its nice out, the kids will be able to play in some of the outdoor space (though not the sports fields), pizza and drinks will be provided.
Seeking Chaperones: The Hangout is an occasion for our sixth graders to spend unstructured time with each other -- active supervision is needed during the hangout and and we are looking for chaperones for the event.   The role of the chaperone essentially is to make sure that kids are behaving safely and staying within designated areas.  We are asking chaperones to arrive at about 3.15 pm and stay until 5.00 pm. If you are available, please send an EM to Haleh at halehfb@gmail.com. We need at least 12 chaperones so do consider writing in and volunteering.
Community Service.  Our service partner for the first hang-out is A Wider Circle. The service project is to make thanksgiving recipe cards for a wider circle to attach to the food baskets. Parents are asked to choose a favorite healthy thanksgiving recipe and email it to Carrie Irvin at carrie@irvin.com  by Friday, November 2nd. The kids will work with the recipes - decorate the recipes and card stock, write a note, punch holes, and tie the recipes to the card stock with ribbon. We will have card stock, ribbon, fall stickers, etc. available for the kids to work with.
Ground Rules. Please note that (1) students are expected to sign in and sign out, (2) parents/caregivers who are picking up the kids must pick up at the hangout location and may not make arrangements to pick up the 6th graders at other locations around the middle school or the parking garage and (3) students must be picked up at  5:00 pm at the latest.
