Sorry our meeting isn’t going to work out. This is my very last week with as head of private sector for the United Nations World Food Programme.

I have accepted a job as president and CEO of The Capital Area Food Bank, a $30 million NGO with about 150 employees serving 700 partnerships agencies in the greater DC area beginning Jan. 2. I am tasked with innovating nutrition policy and hunger solutions to be scaled across the Feeding America network.

In this new role, I hope to continue my work innovating hunger solutions. It becomes clearer each day that nutrition for individuals, families and communities is the foundation on which broader economic, health, education and other advances in development are built. It is also clear that the need is great here in the US, unfortunately.
