> Former Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden — son of the vice president — has been out of public view in recent months, leading to speculation about his health and whether he still intends to run for governor in 2016. But term-limited Democratic Gov. Jack Markell said he still thinks Biden will make a bid for the seat.
>
> “It is still my expectation. I think Beau has a strong track record, obviously very well known throughout the state, very popular,” Markell said in an interview with POLITICO at the National Governors Association meeting in Washington over the weekend. “I think if he decides to run he’ll be an extremely compelling candidate and really the odds-on favorite.”
>
> Biden, who had a stroke in 2010, was hospitalized in 2013 and had surgery to remove what doctors described as a small a lesion from his brain. He announced his intention to seek the governorship in April 2014 — eight months after his surgery — in a letter <http://www.beaubiden.com/splash/> to supporters.
>
> “Over the past few months, as I’ve been planning to run for reelection, I have also been giving a great deal of thought to running for Governor in 2016,” he wrote. “What started as a thought — a very persistent thought — has now become a course of action that I wish to pursue.”

> But his relatively low profile in recent months has led to some to wonder <http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/01/30/1360986/-The-Daily-Kos-Great-Mentioner-asks-Will-the-Biden-dynasty-continue-in-Delaware> if he might forgo a return to public life.
>
> Markell said his most recent visit with Biden came two months ago.
>
> “I thought he looked good. I talked to him. He certainly sounds strong and good,” Markell said. “He’s working. He got a job shortly after leaving the attorney general’s office. He’s at a Wilmington-based law firm.”
>
> Biden was first elected to the attorney general post in 2006 and was reelected in 2010. He did not seek a third term last year.
