This is a story of struggle. But, it’s also one of immense gratitude.

This spring, I met Lorraine May, who has been living with ALS for three years. I saw first-hand how the Chapter’s Marjorie Shimer Durable Medical Equipment Loan Program, and Accessibility Program, so profoundly helped this one individual. Through these vital programs – which your gifts make possible – Lorraine received a hospital bed, power wheelchair, and lift chair. Plus, her home is now equipped with a ramp.

Lorraine writes, “I cannot imagine facing this disease without your support.” That statement, and her favorite song that played during my visit – Wynonna Judd’s appropriately-named Things That I Lean On – underscores how important these two programs are for people living with ALS.
