Pembro infusion is like Avastin infusion, it takes one hour or so for the infusion, once every three weeks. Usually there is little immediate side effect. We just need to see how Beau reacts to the drug. The question is 1) should he come to houston every 3 weeks for the infusion, or 2) only the first 1 or 2 infusion done in Houston and stay for 24 hours after infusion for observation then return home. I do not think you need to stay in Houston long even the infusion is done here, because the drug is pretty safe, and Jon or Howard can help identify another oncologist with experience using pembro to help with monitoring at home. I will discuss this with Howard about this. > Al > > > W. K. I like to initiate pembrolizumab, the anti-PD1 antibodies, after the MRI, no more CCNU. Pembro is given IV every 3 weeks. We need close monitoring for side effect in the first 2-3 doses. So we have to decide how to do that. If Beau does well with first 2-3 doses and MRI stay good, I plan to reduce the Avastin as well. I am saving the T-cells therapy for when the tumor progress. >> Sounds OK? >> Al >> >> >> W. K. Beau is doing well. We are all set to come to texas at the end of the month. I wanted to know a little about what the plan is if things look good/steady on the MRI. I know we discussed the 3 weeks that he may need to be in Texas. Is that still the plan? When would that begin? I am looking into spring break for our family and wanted to see what the plan is with Beau. >> Thanks Al.
