Hunter, Attached please find to share with your Dad the rough draft
Trailer for the documentary I am now a producer on with multiple award
winning documentary producer and director Andy Greenspan and Ellen
Meachum who recently completed a book on RFK's visit to the
Mississippi Delta in May of 1967. Her book was recently the subject of
a major NY Times editorial. THE PASSWORD FOR THE VIDEO IS: ANDY47
I vividly recall Bobby Kennedy's moving and inspiring visit to the
Delta in 1967, and when I attended Boys Nation a few months later I
told Senator Eastland I wanted to meet Senator Bobby Kennedy when he
asked me who out of all the U.S. Senators I would like to spend some
time with.
Similarly, this Trailer has interviews with persons who were equally
inspired by Bobby Kennedy's visit to the Delta like Mississippian
Ellen Meachum, Mississippi Hodding Carter, III, and Mississippian
Curtiss Wilkie, former reporter for the Boston Globe, as well as Mary
Wright.
We have tracked down and the Trailer includes interviews with the
Children in the Delta that RFK visited with in 1967. The documentary
will also include interviews with the Children in Appalachia that he
visited with in 1968.
Additionally, we have 50 year-old major network footage that has not
been viewed since then from RFK's visits to the Delta and Appalachia.
We would love to have your Dad's and your Family's involvement with
this project, and would appreciate your Dad's assistance in involving
Michelle Obama for one or both of them to be the host voice(s) of the
documentary.
I will be sending the additional detailed written documentary
treatment for the documentary by separate email.
I believe the group of us involved with the documentary 50 years later
is in many ways as important as the story of Bobby Kennedy engaging
the country and the Congress in these poverty issues back in the
1960's.
And as your Dad fully knows and Bobby Kennedy often challenged, "It's
not to late to seek a newer world." In fact, Senator Kennedy signed
his 1968 presidential campaign book with that them to his Friend
Senator Eastland, challenging the Senator, "Jim, It'd not too later."
