Thank GOD the finally reached out to them. I've been pushing this for months.
He can win. He needs air support ASAP. His opponent, Ken Simpler, may have more campaign cash or maybe not. But he'll definitely have more outside/PAC money. And unless Barney can compete on that level he'll lose.
The republicans in the state are saying Simpler is their Great Hope - touting him as a future candidate for Gov or federal office. And if he wins this race that's a lot more likely. So it would be good for everyone (Beau too, obviously) if he loses this race.
Our guy, Barney, isn't that great retail wise but he is legitimately smart and can really do good things in the office. He's doing all the right things to build a grassroots network. And the numbers are on our side. But Simpler is talking about "one party rule" in the state, and that's a concern - I haven't seen any polling, but my gut says that message will work. Especially if Simpler has oodles of money.
