We're in the market for ad buys, internal polls, personnel moves and strategy insights. REWRITING THE SCRIPT - John Jordan, the California winery owner with a thirst for GOP politics, is steering his Americans for Shared Prosperity PAC toward women's issues - specifically, an effort to help the right connect with women in a way it's failed to in recent election cycles. POLITICO's Maggie Haberman takes a look at the multimillionaire's effort: "Jordan said he is bothered by the Democrats' focus on a 'war on women' that emerged in the 2012 campaign cycle, but also believes Republican messaging has been weak in pushing back. So the ads he commissioned from Florida-based ad-maker Rick Wilson feature a woman speaking direct-to-camera about issues like the economy and national security, in a 30-second spot and a 60-second one. She accuses Democrats obliquely of treating women like single-issue voters, and talks about President Barack Obama as if he's a boyfriend she's stuck with for a few more years." The boyfriend concept has already drawn some criticism. http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=bf661cac115d433e5d6ce0882c7e6c179fc6179f41e31975b22e53f6eed8b4bd http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=bf661cac115d433e5d6ce0882c7e6c179fc6179f41e31975b22e53f6eed8b4bd EXTRA CREDIT - NRCC, DCCC eyeing credit lines for late-campaign TV blitzes - Democrats, who already carry a huge fundraising advantage heading into the last six weeks of election season, are considering a $10 million loan or line of credit for a little extra breathing room. POLITICO's John Bresnahan breaks it down: "The subject of the loan came up at a closed-door meeting Thursday night that included House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Steve Israel and other top House Democrats, some of whom expressed concerns that President Barack Obama's focus on threats in the Middle East is distracting him from economic issues Democrats want to highlight in the campaign." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=bf661cac115d433e3ff5a00b54b7a58a366780a841170e4f9ef9ac10ec77d62b http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=bf661cac115d433e3ff5a00b54b7a58a366780a841170e4f9ef9ac10ec77d62b -Bres also reveals that the GOP secured a $20 million line of credit - some of which is likely go untapped - for their own late-campaign barrage: "The move by the NRCC - the agreement for the credit line was originally secured from Wells Fargo in August but revised last week - shows GOP leaders are preparing for a last-minute blitz of TV ads and get-out-the-vote spending." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=bf661cac115d433e9e43e2a80c57cbdb5bcd3ad6cf78d26eda051cd9cb03f57a http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=bf661cac115d433e9e43e2a80c57cbdb5bcd3ad6cf78d26eda051cd9cb03f57a RNC touts $10m August haul: Chairman Reince Priebus touted the number Sunday and promised it would support a get-out-the-vote operation that includes 1,500 field workers and data to reach potential GOP voters. The RNC has about $14.5 million cash on hand for the stretch run. The narrowly leading candidate for governor was never accused of wrongdoing - and he contends he was in the "wrong place at the wrong time." But Republicans were quick to disseminate the embarrassing revelation, which first appeared in a Kansas newspaper that doesn't have its own website. Hohmann reports: "The Coffeyville Journal, a twice-weekly local paper with no website, first revealed the 1998 incident in its Saturday edition, with no response from the Davis campaign." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=bf661cac115d433eaca10010ee61e786db78922781e75ebf63e120fb018d5f89 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=bf661cac115d433eaca10010ee61e786db78922781e75ebf63e120fb018d5f89 --Davis' comments to POLITICO on the incident: "When I was 26 years old, I was taken to a club by my boss - the club owner was one of our legal clients. While we were in the building, the police showed up. I was never accused of having done anything wrong, but rather I was in the wrong place at the wrong time." --From the police report: "I noticed a white male sitting in a couch with a white female standing over him. She did not have her top on and was only wearing a G-string. I told them to get on the floor and to keep their hands where I could see them. They got on the floor, but the white male was still in a sitting position. I told him again to lay on his stomach and to keep his hands where I could see them. At this time he did so." TOP TALKER: "Gabby Giffords gets mean," by POLITICO's Alex Isenstadt: "Gabby Giffords, irreproachable figure of sympathy, has fashioned an improbable new role for herself this election year: ruthless attack dog. The former Democratic congresswoman, whose recovery from a gunshot wound to the head captivated the country, has unleashed some of the nastiest ads of the campaign season, going after GOP candidates in Arizona and New Hampshire with attacks even some left-leaning commentators say go too far. And Republicans on the receiving end are largely helpless to hit back, knowing a fight with the much-admired survivor is not one they're likely to win." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=bf661cac115d433e2d2341a64aea3be4e2bc6018a1be5599b96e8a7204b1e9d1 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=bf661cac115d433e2d2341a64aea3be4e2bc6018a1be5599b96e8a7204b1e9d1 POPPING THIS MORNING: "RNC launches voter 'challenge,'" by POLITICO's Darren Samuelsohn: "The Republican National Committee is tapping into the spirit of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge this week with a new social media campaign designed to pressure GOP voters into going to the polls by Election Day. With its Voter Challenge Facebook app, described exclusively to POLITICO, Republican supporters will be asked to pledge their support by November and also challenge three friends on their social media network to do the same. Sure, it may sound a bit pushy. But the Republicans concede they need to increase turnout during a midterm cycle with plenty of close gubernatorial and House races as well as Senate majority control up for grabs." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=bf661cac115d433ed3751849d0f3bae01081c9a96647e36f2c67ae9fd2e34652 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=bf661cac115d433ed3751849d0f3bae01081c9a96647e36f2c67ae9fd2e34652 FROM OUR NOTEBOOKS - Bill Clinton on modern polling: Speaking to CNN's Fareed Zakaria, former President Bill Clinton underscored a problem with modern political polling. "The real question in polling today is the sample you pick based on who you think will vote," he said. "No one knows." Clinton predicted a $300 million spending barrage by conservative groups backed by the Koch brothers, and he said Democrats could win the turnout battle to hold the Senate. He also chastised Democrats for often sitting on the sidelines in non-presidential elections. "They have to vote in the Congressional election," he said. "They can't complain when they lose governorships, state legislatures." -Clinton also opined on Elizabeth Warren, calling her an "important part" of the Democratic Party's future, particularly because of her message about giving people "an equal shot at prosperity." And he said he hasn't given any thought about what it would be like to be the First Husband, if his wife Hillary Clinton wins the presidency in 2016. Daybook: 91-year-old Bob Dole is jumping into a tougher-than-expected Kansas Senate race for Republicans, stumping for Sen. Pat Roberts as he fends off a challenge from independent Greg Orman. Dole will make the first of three town hall-style stops with Roberts today in Dodge City, Kansas. A 6 p.m. Central Time. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz) will be in Kansas for Roberts later in the week as well. --EMILY's List is showcasing some budding Democratic stars today in New York City, including women who have a chance to leave a major imprint on the 2014 elections - and beyond. The group's Eastern Regional Conference will feature keynote remarks from Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.). But several panels also feature big names in Democratic circles, including Leticia Van de Putte, who's running for lieutenant governor in Texas; Emily Cain, who's running to represent Maine's Second Congressional District; and Kathleen Rice, a Long Island district attorney bidding for a Nassau County House seat. -New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, chairman of the Republican Governors Association, will be in St. Louis today for a Republican National Committee event. TEA LEAVES - More signals are emerging that the Republican electorate is fired up for the 2014 elections while Democrats are yawning. Three in four Republicans said they considered this year's contests as significant or more so than other recent elections, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News/Annenberg survey. Just over half of Democrats said the same. http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=bf661cac115d433ee9c28058101772c6307aed26999e5f81b3a3776272348ab1 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=bf661cac115d433ee9c28058101772c6307aed26999e5f81b3a3776272348ab1 "To Win Back Older Voters, Democrats Talk Up Social Security," by Jackie Calmes, The New York Times: "Democrats are stepping up their appeals to older voters in the final stretch before the midterm elections, spurred by polls showing the party has regained some support lost in the Obama years. The question is whether they can narrow the gap with Republicans enough to offset their broader disadvantages given widespread dissatisfaction with President Obama." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=bf661cac115d433ed57a5811d077434e723e776c0119d44a0d9f6c3021cbcae0 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=bf661cac115d433ed57a5811d077434e723e776c0119d44a0d9f6c3021cbcae0 CODA - QUOTE OF THE DAY: "If you're a former president, you ought to do whatever the current president asks you to do." - Bill Clinton, on how he views his responsibility as a citizen and if he were to become the first First Husband. ** Want to Reach Voters?Time to Get Personal.
