Dear Catholic Charities President’s Council Members, I wanted to take a quick moment and update you on our progress for Catholic Charities Day taking place in just over 10 weeks. First, I want to thank all of you who have volunteered to help us with in your parish for Catholic Charities weekend of November 15 and 16 to be dedicated as Catholic Charities Day. The response has been good, however we can still use more assistance in making our weekend a huge success throughout the Archdiocese. As a reminder of what Catholic Charities weekend will entail, we will have the opportunity to speak for just a few minutes at every single Mass at every parish in the Archdiocese of Washington! The goal of the weekend is to engage our most important group of support -- Catholics in the pews. You probably know as well as I do that while many people say they like Catholic Charities, very few truly understand the scope of our work and just how critical our work is to the region. Our draft speech is complete and there is a place to add a paragraph about the parish’s service efforts or for the speaker to share their personal experience of helping others. Our online speaker training is close to being launched for you to view at your convenience. The video is hosted by broadcast legend Johnny Holliday, and we kept it to just five minutes. And as I mentioned previously, if someone would need in-person training, our Communications staff can provide that for you. A new agency brochure is also in the final stages of being created to be distributed at each mass to reinforce your message. Please, please consider being a speaker or getting involved as a coordinator at your parish or even one nearby! Thank you again for sharing in our excitement to raise the awareness of the wonderful works of service all over the Archdiocese of Washington.
