There has been increased interest by Metro North Rail to get additional access to NY Penn Station. HNTB believes that Amtrak has been in communication with MNR about this with Drew Galloway being the main POC at Amtrak.

The issue is that there is no additional capacity at NYP unless the LIRR gives slots or the Gateway Project gets fully funded and completed.

As there are a lot of moving pieces, HNTB would like to convene a THINK forum to bring all the stakeholders together (Amtrak, MNR, LIRR, etc.) along with other thought leaders to discuss increased access at NYP in general.

HNTB would like to make sure Amtrak wouldn’t be opposed to such a forum and that if they do it they would like to organize it with input by Amtrak in a way that would be helpful to Amtrak.
