I remember the moment I learned I was pregnant with Jordan. As all those hopes and fears every new mother feels swirled together, I didn’t quite know what was coming. But I put my faith in God, and trusted that we’d do everything we could to make his life great.
Well, Jordan’s with God now, R.. And it’s my job to honor his life, for the rest of my life, by working to ensure that I’m one of the last mothers to lose her child to gun violence.

That’s not this email. I mean, yes, I am going to ask you to chip in to support Lucy McBath [http://secure.actblue.com/donate/support-lucy-1018?refcode=20181030kicker] in a moment here, but please let me explain why first:
Lucy’s path to politics began with every mother’s worst nightmare: Her beautiful son, Jordan, was a victim of gun violence. Now, as a “Mother of the Movement” for gun safety reform, Lucy has made it her life’s mission to ensure that no more mothers will lose their children to the gun violence that tears apart too many families every day in our country.

So no, R.: I’m not emailing you today because I think I’ve somehow earned the right to tell you how to vote, or which candidates to support.
I’m emailing because I don’t want our kids to grow up in the same country that killed Lucy’s son. I want them to grow up in the country that we build together instead. And Lucy’s leadership has inspired me to help make that happen, however I can.
