Dear Friend,
You know how transformative rowing can be in a girl’s life. The early morning practices strengthen their bodies and minds. The team camaraderie creates new friendships. And the competition – and the winning! – build their confidence and even some swagger (albeit in the manner of Friends!).
We want to make sure that every athlete can row in every regatta, and no one is left out due to equipment shortages. So, we are adding a new, four-person boat to our existing fleet of two 8x boats and one 4x boat. Once we complete this acquisition, Sidwell Friends Rowing will have two fours and an eight – enough boats to give every athlete on the team an opportunity in every race. Every girl will get to race in seven regattas – that’s more winning memories, more tests of mental and physical strength, more time on the water with her friends.
Acquiring the new boat comes with a cost. We’re more than half way to our goal of raising $35,000 for the new boat and equipment trailer.
