Enclosed please find our quarterly report on China's economy. Given
uncertainties in the US-China relationship driven by political changes
in both countries, 2017 is bound to be a year of transition. Elements of
continuity include Chinese capital controls, the anti-corruption
campaign and a gradual trend toward slower growth. Disruptions will
largely emanate from the US, and range from changes in monetary and
trade policy to THADD defense. Risks are rising that in spite of shared
commercial interests, and leaders who are both supply siders, that
politics will trump economics.
