The economy added 235,000 jobs in February, the Labor Department reported Friday, down from 238,000 in January.

Unemployment was 4.7 percent, down from January's 4.8 percent.

Average hourly private-sector earnings were up 6 cents. In January, they were up 5 cents.

Analysts had predicted the creation of 200,000 jobs, an unemployment rate of 4.7 percent and an increase in hourly earnings of 0.3 percent, according to a Bloomberg survey of economists.
