Dear R., Throughout the campaign, Governor O'Malley talked about the importance of protecting our environment and the need to invest in renewable and sustainable sources of energy. And while it's only been a few weeks since he was inaugurated for a second term, Governor O'Malley has shown that his commitment to Maryland's energy future did not end on election night. Governor O'Malley's proposed energy legislation this session will position Maryland as a national leader in renewable energy and allow us to lay the foundation for a cleaner, greener, more sustainable future. His proposals include the development and creation of offshore wind, the promotion of electric vehicles, and tax credits for solar power. The Maryland League of Conservation Voters said this about the package, "This bold, forward-looking leadership is what is needed to keep Maryland prosperous and a clean and safe place to live, work, and play." Today, Governor O'Malley will be testifying on a bill that will help support Maryland's emerging offshore wind industry, which has the power to generate renewable energy and create thousands of jobs. Show your support for investing in Maryland's renewable energy future by "liking" the Governor's post on facebook. Together, we can move forward to a brighter future.
