Dear Professor Biden, Thank you for taking the time to speak with me this morning. As I mentioned on the phone, it would be my dream to work on the National Security Council staff, but I would be thrilled to work anywhere in the administration that focuses on national security issues or foreign policy. As a recap, I was fortunate enough to have the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA) select my resume for consideration by the White House. I received an email on 22 April from the Presidential Personnel Office confirming my selection and requesting that I fill out an application (please see email below). This program seeks to place qualified candidates in various appointments in the administration, as well as various federal departments and agencies. I filled out an application in April and I am waiting to hear if I will be selected for an appointment. I also spoke with former colleagues of mine, Chris Runyan and Allison Lombardo, both of whom work as staff members on the NSC. Chris and Allison were very helpful, but intimated that most direct hire NSC jobs (i.e. not directly seconded from other agencies) were political appointee roles assisting principals. I have attached an updated resume, as well as the cover letter I wrote to APSIA for the White House resume pool. Additionally, Madeleine Albright and Chester A. Crocker both wrote recommendations on my behalf for the White House, and both said they would be willing to serve as references in the future. I appreciate you taking the time to look into this for me. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information.
