FYI. Hope all is well. So, I obviously have not received any correspondence from Mike Milken whatsoever beyond that original email. However, I did have a very good meeting with Brooke Boyer who is the staff person on the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee responsible for the Defense Health Programs account. She was optimistic about the work for FY11 (the current one) and maintaining funding for this year. While that certainly is promising for next year, we have our work cut out for us and there is a great deal of uncertainty about the timeline moving forward with fy12 although she certainly believes it will be delayed a few weeks, or about how things will play out. There is some fear that with cutbacks at NIH, people with interests beyond the current scope of the CDMRP will look at the program at DOD which will bring a new level of scrutiny on the program - and potentially unwanted attention. So, I'm working on tightening up our argument in favor of the program and strengthening the tie to military relevance. I have a meeting with Mike Smith next week (thus cc'd on this email as a primer) to discuss strategy. Let me know if you need any further information from me in regards to responding to Mike Milken. Kevin
