****************************************************************************** THE CHICAGO COUNCIL ON GLOBAL AFFAIRS http://www.thechicagocouncil.org ****************************************************************************** February 5, 2015 Good morning, On behalf of The Chicago Council, I am pleased to invite you to a roundtable to discuss the myths and facts on genetically modified foods. The roundtable will feature remarks by Greg Jaffe , the director of biotechnology at the Center for Science in the Public Interest. The discussion will be heldfrom 7:45 to 8:45 a.m on Wednesday, February 25 , at The Chicago Council on Global Affairs , 332 South Michigan Avenue, Suite 1100. Coffee and light breakfast will be served. As you may know, there is a robust debate around the safety, environmental sustainability, ethics, and necessity of using genetic engineering to produce food. Jaffe, who leads an independent and non-partisan project on these themes, looks forward to leading an informative discussion about these issues. Jaffe joined the Center for Science in the Public Interest after serving as a trial attorney for the US Department of Justice's Environmental and Natural Resources Division, and as a senior counsel with the USEnvironmental Protection Agency's Air Enforcement Division. Previously, he was a member of the secretary of agriculture's advisory committee on agricultural biotechnology and 21st century agriculture. There is no cost to attend this roundtable. If you are able to accept this invitation, please RSVP by Monday, February 23 , to Andrew Morimoto at amorimoto@thechicagocouncil.org [ mailto:amorimoto@thechicagocouncil.org ] or (312) 821-6856.
