Happy New Year! I wanted to check in on an invitation I sent to you in early October regarding an award we are honoring your father with. I understand that the VP's office does not schedule anything more than 3 months ahead of time but given that we are now 80 days out from our event, I was hoping you could help get our event on the scheduler's radar.

On April 13th we will be hosting our BlueGreen Champions Luncheon where we plan to honor Vice President Biden with our Green Jobs Champion Award. The Luncheon will be packed full of labor union presidents such as United Steelworkers President Leo Gerard, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten, as well as executive-level officers of big corporations such as Alcoa, Kaiser Aluminum, AT&T, top environmental leaders, rank and file union members, and so on. It really is the "who's who" of those working to create a clean energy economy with good jobs. The Vice President will have the opportunity to accept the award in front of this diverse audience and give keynote remarks.

This is our highest level of award and we are honored to recognize your father for his commitment to expanding green jobs, a commitment our 15 partners representing 16 million members want to celebrate. He has been such a strong supporter of both the labor and environmental movements. This event is widely covered by top media outlets.

Thank you so much for making sure the BlueGreen Alliance's invitation to receive the Good Jobs, Green Jobs Award to your father gets pulled out of the pile! We are so excited to be honoring him with our Green Jobs Champion award and hope he can accept the award and make it to the event-the hundreds of union members and environmentalists in attendance would be beyond thrilled to see him!

The BlueGreen Alliance consists of 15 environmental and labor organizations - and our two co-chairs are Leo Gerard, President of the USW, and Michael Brune, Executive Director of the Sierra Club. We want to honor him for his outstanding work at this years conference on April 13th. This is a very widely attended event with significant turnout from the labor and environmental movements.
