Despite the haste and bitterness of this campaign season, it's important that we remember why we are in this fight together.

This is a special time of year. Across Las Vegas -- and with Nevada's sons and daughters stretching from coast to coast -- families will be celebrating an incredibly important milestone: graduation. Whether it's high school, community college, four-year programs, or even a post-doc, our graduates are the future of our great state and we must support them in this exciting transition.

As an undergraduate back in my day, I was working multiple jobs and barely making ends meet to afford school and books and rent -- but thankfully there were those who looked out for me and made sure I stayed on the right path.

Thanks to those helping hands, I've been able to create a better life for myself and my kids -- and in doing so, create a career dedicated to helping at-risk youth graduate from high school and go onto higher education.

For 20 years, I've worked with local schools, helping thousands of kids graduate, go to college, and build better lives for their families. I'm incredibly proud to say that through our hard-work, the Communities in Schools program graduates 88% of the students they serve.

That is real progress. And the kind of work our elected leaders ought to be doing a heck of a lot more of.

Thanks for being a dedicated partner,
Susie
