EXCLUSIVE: President Obama and the First Lady will lease the Kalorama, D.C., mansion of Joe Lockhart and Giovanna Gray to start their post-presidency, real-estate sources tell Playbook. According to online real-estate information, the 8,200-square-footer was built in 1928 and has nine bedrooms, plus eight and a half baths. Obama said in March that he'll stay in D.C. after leaving office so that his younger daughter, Sasha, can finish high school.

The Lockharts have moved to Manhattan, where Joe is the NFL's EVP of communications, and Giovanna handles special projects for Glamour magazine, including the 51 Million.

PAUL RYAN is moving rapidly toward endorsing Donald Trump, after telling CNN's Jake Tapper three weeks ago that he was "not there right now." We're told Ryan has been steadily "getting there," helped notably by the super-conservative potential Supreme Court picks that Trump released last week. Sounds like the endorsement will be soon, but we're told not today. After Ryan's endorsement, Trump forces will declare the party unified.

--"Ryan Said to Tell Confidants He's Ready to End Trump Standoff," by Bloomberg's Billy House, Jen Jacobs and Kevin Cirilli: "Ryan has begun telling confidants that he wants to end his standoff with Donald Trump in part because he's worried the split has sharpened divisions in the Republican Party." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=421065fa7e08e6e46eebe20d99d7edad3daa3203209753acee6741005d0056ac

TRUMP TOWER INTRIGUE - "Trump campaign rift gets personal: The fight for control among the candidate's top aides turns bitter, draws in others," by Ken Vogel and Ben Schreckinger, with Hadas Gold: "The internal struggle for control of Donald Trump's presidential campaign is getting personal, with allies of feuding campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and chairman Paul Manafort increasingly turning to shadowy tactics to try to sully their rivals. ... An ally of Manafort's said Lewandowski 'takes all the bad news up to Trump - "Paul represented this person, Paul represented that person."' ...

"[A] campaign official disputed the characterization of an increasingly bitter and damaging divide, asserting that the once-skeletal campaign .... had moved past the well-documented acrimony in its upper ranks. ... Indeed, most of the dirty work on both sides of the tug-of-war has been conducted not by the principals, but by their supporters in and around the campaign. ... [A] California Republican close to the campaign said Lewandowski has repeatedly tried to enlist allies on the campaign in his efforts to marginalize Manafort. 'He's going to people and saying, "I need your help. We need to get rid of Paul,"' said the Republican. ...

"Last week, [ousted Trump aide Sam] Nunberg helped facilitate a New York Post Page Six item about an argument between Lewandowski and campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks on a Manhattan sidewalk outside the Trump campaign headquarters ... Nunberg would not comment on whether he had a role ... 'Donald loves to fire people. Why can't he just say it to Corey?' said Nunberg, who blamed Lewandowski for his own firing from the campaign last summer over a years-old racist Facebook post. ...

"[Roger] Stone emphasizes that he has no formal role with the campaign. But he has fashioned a role for himself as an informal adviser and high-profile surrogate. He has waged a months-long campaign to boost Trump and Manafort, while eviscerating perceived enemies, including Lewandowski ... On his ... Twitter feed, Stone has publicly branded Trump's campaign manager 'Loserdowski.'" http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=421065fa7e08e6e4da39f260070a138734d19d8a6db192a5c5e4a1da5dfb5493

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: Police call protest a "riot" ... "Protests turn violent outside Trump rally in New Mexico," by AP's Jill Colvin: "In one of the presidential campaign year's more grisly spectacles, protesters at a Donald Trump rally in New Mexico threw burning T-shirts, plastic bottles and other items at police officers, injuring several ... Police responded by firing pepper spray and smoke grenades into the crowd outside the Albuquerque Convention Center.

"During the rally, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee was interrupted repeatedly by protesters, who shouted, held up banners and resisted removal by security officers. ... Trump later tweeted 'Great rally in New Mexico, amazing crowd!' The altercations left glass at the entrance of the convention center smashed. ... Albuquerque police said several officers were treated for injuries after getting hit by rocks." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=421065fa7e08e6e455b958a25e1787f7433a13047030127f6c0339ea1b15f296

They will also highlight Trump's outrageous defense that this is 'the kind of thinking our country needs.'"

DEEP DIVE -- "Donald Trump signed off deal designed to deprive US of tens of millions in tax," by The Telegraph's Ruth Sherlock, Edward Malnick and Claire Newell: "Donald Trump signed off on a controversial business deal that was designed to deprive the US Government of tens of millions of dollars in tax ... THE AGENDA's new Water issue -- "Is Washington creating more Flints?" by Danny Vinik: "Accounting for inflation, the [CBO] estimates federal spending on water utilities has dropped 75 percent since 1977. The U.S. population has grown by 100 million people over that time, which means the burden of supplying and cleaning their water has gone up-and is now borne almost entirely by cities and states." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=421065fa7e08e6e4927d8ba851cb48132a811c03c020886d19ebb06cde9e1434 ... --"The war over Chesapeake Bay: The government just paid this family to pull up productive farmland-in a huge scheme that stretches the limits of the law, but just might help save a jewel," by Annie Snider: "In the five-and-a-half years since the Obama administration announced the Chesapeake Bay cleanup plan, it has become one of the most contentious environmental battles in the U.S. To its advocates, it's a long-overdue move by Washington to own up to its responsibility to plug the holes in U.S. water law. To opponents, it represents typical Obama excess, using the 1972 Clean Water Act as a blunt instrument to accomplish something it was never intended to do."
