Thank you for notifying me that you completed your background investigation information. I will need to get your fingerprints to finalize that portion of the application. If possible, could you swing by my office next Tuesday of Wednesday to knock this out? If not, we can work out another time, although I will not have the fingerprint kit any earlier than next Monday.
For your medical appointments, I submitted your patient registration form to Bethesda and you should show up in the system by tomorrow morning. The medical screening ("Pre Commissioning Physical") requires two appointments. Following your second appointment, you will leave with the following: DD Form 2808, DD Form 2807, Copy of your lab results, Copy or your drug screening. You have two options to complete your Pre Commissioning Physical.

1) Bethesda: Call Bethesda (301 295 3472 or 301 295 5411) to schedule your appointments. Part I will be very easy to schedule, the usually have appointments available within 10 days of calling. Following completion of Part 1, you will need to schedule Part II. Right now, Part II is presenting a challenge for all of my applicants and there are limited numbers of appointments remaining for the month of DECEMBER. The Bethesda appointment will be free of charge.

2) Concentra: The health care provider Concentra is authorized by the Bureau of Naval Medicine to conduct pre commissioning physicals en lieu of a military medical facility. This will cost you approximately $300 out of pocket. This will NOT be reimbursed. I recently learned of this option, and am now offering it to all of my applicants. The benefit is that you have much greater influence your schedule, and frankly it is much faster than going through Bethesda. You can call and schedule an appointment at any Concentra facility, or walk in between 8am and 5pm. After you complete Part I, you will come back 3 days later and complete Part II. There are 4 Concentra locations in the DC area, you can look them up at concentra.com to find the closest location and the phone number to schedule an appointment. When you call you simply tell them you are in need of a pre- commissioning physical for the U.S. Navy including all blood work. I just called the Concentra in Alexandria to verify that this service was offered and they were very helpful and knowledgeable about the process.
