This was what Mitt Romney told an Iowa newspaper on Tuesday: There's no legislation with regards to abortion that I'm familiar with that would become part of my agenda.

This was what Mitt Romney told NBC News the very next day: The actions I'll take immediately are to remove funding for Planned Parenthood. It will not be part of my budget.

They can't both be true, and that's the problem. Whether it's Romney or Ryan, healthcare or taxes, Bin Laden or budgets--we hear different things out of the Republican Party from one day to the next. Romney and Ryan aren't running a campaign, they're making a sales pitch: if it sounds good on TV, it'll work in the White House. And once you've put them there you can find out what they really believe.
