Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee announces leadership for the 113th Congress
Chair Mark Begich (D - AK) welcomes new and returning members

Sen. Mark Begich (D – AK), who will serve a second two-year term as Chair of the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee, today announced the Committee’s leadership team for the 113th Congress:

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (NH) will serve as Vice Chair;
Sen. Bob Menendez (NJ) will return for a fourth term as Chair of the Hispanic Task Force; and
Sen. Chris Coons (DE) will serve as Chair of Business Outreach.

“I am excited to announce the return of Senator Menendez and the addition of Senators Coons and Shaheen to the Committee. My colleagues and I are energized and ready to tackle the important issues facing our nation. We look forward to continuing to have honest conversations with groups and individuals across the spectrum so that we can craft balanced solutions to our country’s pressing challenges,” Begich said.

“It is an honor to be chosen as the Vice Chair of the Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee. This committee plays an important role in connecting our communities and facilitating dialogue with our constituents. I am looking forward to the opportunity to help raise the voices of Americans across the country,” added Shaheen.

“It’s an honor to serve as Chairman of the Senate Democratic Hispanic Task Force and I thank my colleagues for giving me the opportunity to do so. As we tackle the most pressing issues of our day, from creating jobs and fixing the economy to comprehensive immigration reform, it is critical that we continue to engage Latino communities across the nation and ensure they have a seat at the negotiating table. That is what the Hispanic Task Force is all about,” said Senator Menendez. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Senate Steering and Outreach Committee to continue fighting back for Hispanics and all American families.”
