Christmas is just days away. I hope the Advent season has been a time of joy and anticipation for you and your family.

More than a quarter million men, women, and children in our archdiocese are living in poverty. Thousands work low-paying jobs, or multiple joys, yet simply can't earn enough to make ends meet. Family homelessness in our area has increased 23 percent - and over 3,000 of those with no place to sleep are innocent children. I meet these individuals every day at Catholic Charities and trust God will help me answer their prayers.
