Dear Friends,

On Wednesday, July 21 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, HBO
and Save the Children's U.S. Programs will co-host a premiere screening
of a powerful new documentary "Homeless: The Motel Kids of Orange
County" from acclaimed filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi. With a stagnant
economy pushing childhood poverty to an epidemic that now affects 1 in 5
children nationwide, there is a critical need for more public attention
on the challenges poor kids face.

Ms. Pelosi's documentary focuses on homeless children living in the
shadow of Disneyland. Using the power of storytelling, I hope it can
help affect real change for all kids living in poverty, whether they are
homeless in Orange County, living in the mountains of Appalachia, or
trying to survive on the streets of our nation's Capital.

A panel discussion, hosted by Judy Woodruff, will follow the screening
and will include Former U.S. Assistant Surgeon General and Save the
Children board member Dr. Susan Blumenthal.
