Democrats are in striking distance to win the House of Delegates from Republicans this year in Virginia -- a feat that hasn't been achieved since Clinton was president in the '90s.

We are currently challenging 54 sitting Republicans, double the number we challenged last election. If we win 17 of these seats, we will win back the house. All we need is your help.

This year, in response to the reckless and divisive leadership by Trump and Republicans, a swell of women with very diverse and exceptional backgrounds have decided to run for their district seat.

There is Kathy Tran in District 42, who came to the United States as a Vietnamese boat refugee when she was 7 months old. Now she is a workforce development expert and education advocate.

Also, Jennifer Foy in District 2, an African-American public defender, foster parent, and new mother of twins. According to Jennifer, “[Trump] was talking about defunding Planned Parenthood, the travel ban, bringing back stop-and-frisk…. I knew I had to run.”

Then there is Danica Roem in House District 13, a transportation expert and former community journalist who has been getting a large amount of national attention lately. She is a transgendered woman running against one of the most conservative house members in Virginia - a Republican who authored an outrageous discriminatory bathroom bill earlier this year.

These candidates, despite their incredible diversity, support practical progressive priorities like expanding Medicaid, protecting the environment, fighting for reproductive health rights, improving the educational system, and growing income for average Americans.

We want to support these and other candidates, taking it straight to the GOP this November.
