<div>I just wanted to reach out to the class of 2019 with some important information from College Counseling.</div>

<div>This coming first semester, the College Counseling Office is presently working very closely with the seniors as they prepare to apply to college. The best advice for juniors is to concentrate on doing your best this year in the classroom. You should also continue to enjoy and pursue extra curricular activities of interest. In January 2018, juniors will receive notification of their college counselor assignment, attend the scheduled college counseling workshops (which will be part of your schedule) during the 2nd semester and have one on one meetings with their college counselor.</div>

<div><strong>Wednesday, October 11, 2017</strong> - Juniors will sit for the PSAT at SFS . Students do not need to sign up as SFS handles PSAT registration.</div>

<div><strong>Thursday, October 19, 2017</strong> - 11th Grade Parent College Program at 6:30 pm in the Theater. (Parent event only)</div>

<div><strong>Friday, November 3, 2017</strong> - 8 am - 11th Grade Parent Conversation in RLS Meeting Room. (Parent event only)</div>

<div><strong>Thursday, January 11, 2018</strong> - 11th Grade Student & Parent College Meeting Kick Off at 7 pm in the RLS Meeting Room. (Student & Parent event)</div>

<div><strong>Week of January 22, 2018</strong> - Juniors are notified of College Counselor Assignment and first student meeting time.</div>

<div><strong>Tuesday, February 6, 2018</strong> - Capital Case Admissions Studies at SFS (in conjunction with GDS) at 6:30 pm.</div>

<div><strong>February - May, 2018</strong> - In class workshops will take place which will part of your 2nd semester schedule, two - one on one student college counselor meetings followed by family meeting.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Sidwell Friends College Application Workshop - Summer 2018 </span></strong></div>

<div>This past summer, the CCO introduced 2 successful (optional) <strong>College Application Workshops</strong> in the summer. These workshops take place over a three day period from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm and students are welcome to sign up for one of the two. <strong>These college application workshops are not mandatory</strong> -<strong>just</strong> <strong>optional</strong>. Registration for these workshops occur in late spring. The dates have been confirmed as the following:</div>

<li>1st College Application Workshop - Tuesday, June 12 - Thursday, June 14, 2018</li>
<li>2nd College Application Workshop - Tuesday, July 31 - Thursday, August 2, 2018 </li>

<div>The College Counseling Office recommends that Standardized Testing take place in the winter/spring of junior year. Each student is different so testing may vary according to student's schedule/needs. The discussion of when to take the test occurs with a student and their college counselor.</div>

<div>Some students will take advantage of test preparation for the SAT & ACT. There are a number of wonderful test prep companies in the area ranging from on line prep (Academic Approach, Kahn Academy, College Board),to one on one prep (Prep Matters, Prep Tutors), to classroom prep (Capital Educators). </div>
<div> </div>
