Dear Members of the Truman Center and Truman Project Boards of Directors:

I am pleased to share with you an update on the upcoming Truman Awards
Dinner <http://trumanproject.org/home/2017-awards-dinner/>, taking place on
September 20, 2017 at the St. Regis here in Washington, DC. In addition to
celebrating the incredible career of the Honorable Ray Mabus, Truman's
Board of Advisors will present Melanie Nakagawa with the Truman Center
Policy Leadership Award.

Melanie is currently the head of Princeville Global Climate Initiative and
a non-resident Fellow with the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia
University's School of International and Public Affairs. She will be
honored for her long-time commitment to the battle against climate change
through her work with the U.S. State Department as the Deputy Assistant
Secretary for Energy Transformation in the Bureau of Energy resources,
leading efforts to promote the global shift toward a low carbon economy as
critical to economic development and addressing energy security and climate
change. She was also on the Secretary of State's Policy Planning Staff from
2013-2015, serving as a strategic advisor to Secretary Kerry and advancing
efforts to elevate climate change as a foreign policy priority.

We are thrilled with the current lineup, and we look forward to announcing
the Truman Visionary Leadership Award recipient shortly. In the meantime,
