<font style="font-size: 16px;"><font style="font-size: 16px;">Dear Friend,<br>
<font style="font-size: 16px;"><br>
In his second inaugural address earlier this year, President Obama said something remarkable. "Our journey is not complete," he said, "until no citizen is forced to wait for hours to exercise the right to vote." What was remarkable was that, in the year 2013, the right to vote is still at stake for so many. <br>
<br>
For reasons both nefarious and simply negligent, too many are denied the basic ability to cast their ballots. That's why in this most recent edition of <em>Democracy,</em> we (in conjunction with the Carnegie Corporation of New York) tackle this important issue by putting forward an <a href="http://trk.cp20.com/Tracking/t.c?5etcl-80gna-nf6h1q6&_v=2" name="aggressive agenda to go on the offense in the">aggressive agenda to go on the offense in the fight for voting rights including calls for automatic registration and a constitutional right to vote</a>.<br>
<font style="font-size: 16px;"><br>
That's not all.<font style="font-size: 16px;"> I hope you'll also read important pieces on <span style="font-size: 16px;"><a href="http://trk.cp20.com/Tracking/t.c?5etcl-80gnb-nf6h1q7&_v=2" name="the Arab Spring">the Arab Spring</a>,</span> <a href="http://trk.cp20.com/Tracking/t.c?5etcl-80gnc-nf6h1q8&_v=2" name="Abraham Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclama">Abraham Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation</a>, <a href="http://trk.cp20.com/Tracking/t.c?5etcl-80gnd-nf6h1q9&_v=2" name="Detroits plight">Detroit's plight</a>, <a href="http://trk.cp20.com/Tracking/t.c?5etcl-80gne-nf6h1q0&_v=2" name="differing notions of freedom and fairness amo">differing notions of freedom and fairness among Democrats and Republicans</a>
