The ACHIEVE program allows athletes to learn from certified coaches on how to train for the swim, bike, run, and transitions of a triathlon in a free six-week non-profit camp. At the end of every ACHIEVE camp, the athletes put all their hard work into action at a USA Triathlon sanctioned kids' triathlon. As youth navigate the challenges of a triathlon, they also build essential life skills in fitness, nutrition, discipline and self-confidence. If not, you're missing out! Just ask any of our regular riders - these weekly events are a ton of fun, a claim that is supported by how much they've grown in the past year. Whatever your goals or level of experience, CycleLife has a ride for you: On Saturday mornings at 9:00 AM, we head out from the shop for a 34 mile loop our MacArthur Blvd, with about 1,000 feet of climbing. We ride at a "spirited" pace, and will break up into two groups depending on the turnout. This is a no-drop ride, with several spots to regroup. On Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM, we make our way out to Haines Point for a skills ride. This ride is a great opportunity for people new to group riding dynamics to learn crucial skills, such as paceline riding. However, this ride is certainly not just for those new to the sport, and many long-time riders find it to be a good refresher for old skills. For more details on our group rides, check our Rides [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=001yaJHPqRSKtZ7Zf07I6yJETfQC7anhFjlffBi17tXWCTt1fpVjqUfeIV3YgY0mtgVyIo8Ir66F32BAMkCZEC41HzQ15-NpedtBOoh9ypt3O6GQ051zJyNYFgg32s7tQ_iyCHxSDomL5Af5SZ82yhFwYrWDGuM31YlhPDQGK_lQlqY07cgyG-tTESo0anlgdmOj42ZE7Xh-1IHM9hI5sEin8_sPy4sarpxzYR9ZiyvYgSxXOxC3Lsu5Nt__Em9kyP3ANNsHNMJucbAnQVKOvt_rg==] page. CycleLife Fit Technician Amanda recently shared with us her must-haves: 1. Assos shorts. These shorts offer really good coverage and feature the most comfortable chamois I've encountered - so I save them for my longest rides. 2. Specialized Oura saddle. The curve of this saddle, coupled with the nice cutout, really goes a long way in helping to prevent saddle sores. 3. Assos chamois cream. This is another product that I prefer for my longer rides. Of all the chamois creams I've tried, Assos has the most staying power, making it more effective than many other options for staving off saddle sores. 4. Skratch Labs Raspberry drink mix. Not only is this product delicious, it's easy on my sensitive stomach and keeps me going strong on long rides. I also like that it's all-natural. 5. Fig Bonk Breaker bars. This is my go-to snack for long excursions. Like my favorite drink mix described above, Bonk Breakers are easy on finicky stomachs. The fig variety is really yummy and tastes like a favorite staple snack, Fig Newtons. Bonus Item: Prevail helmet. You've obviously got to keep your noggin safe. This helmet is super light, which helps to prevent neck cramping, and features a ton of vents so your head stays as cool as possible in warm weather. You can find all of Amanda's essentials at CycleLife. If you're in the market for a new saddle, clothes, or snacks, consider giving one of her favorites a try. Who knows? You might find a new essential of your own! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From the Blog: Steve's Specialized Stumpjumper Expert We all get excited when a new build rolls out the doors of CycleLife. Setting up riders with builds tailored for their needs is a big part of what we do here.
