Dear Friends,I want to update you on our search for the new Head of School for Sidwell Friends.Our Search Consultants from Spencer Stuart, Mary Gorman, Michelle Haertel, and Ainsley Parker, have just completed a number of meetings on campus with members of the School community. They had the opportunity to have conversations with dozens of individuals, including Middle and Upper School students, faculty from Lower, Middle, Upper School and Athletics, parents, alumni, administrators, staff, and the Board of Trustees. This has been an extremely beneficial series of meetings, during which they have engaged in conversations about what makes Sidwell Friends School distinct and the challenges and opportunities that the new Head of School will face. The Search Consultants came away with a solid understanding of our school and have pages and pages of notes and ideas.Based on this input and conversations with the Search Committee, an Opportunity Statement will be prepared for widespread distribution. We expect it will attract a great deal of attention from potential candidates in the coming weeks. We will post this Statement on the Sidwell Friends School website.I want to thank those of you who were able to participate in these important conversations as well as those who have sent your thoughts to me or to Spencer Stuart. We are extremely grateful for your interest and your support as we engage in this very important process. We will keep you informed as the search process continues.
