Dear Friends,


On behalf of the whole class, we want to thank Mimi and Steven Kirstein for
opening up their home to us and for providing such a wonderful way to
celebrate the start of the school year. It was a terrific party!! Thank you
both.


*Volunteer opportunities:*

1. The tradition of parent potlucks during the autumn of every year
is a long one. It is a time for parents to relax and share news. If you
are interested in hosting a potluck please let
anngrauduvall@gmail.comknow. Due to the time crunch for Senior
families this Fall, we will be
having the potlucks in *January and February*. Brunch would also be a
possibility. We'll choose 6 dates that seem reasonable and then anonomously
allow parents to sign up. We need three more volunteer host to offer their
homes and ONE volunteer to coordinate the anonymous signups.


2. *October 22*. We need volunteers for pizza sale at Homecoming.
We need two volunteers every hour between the hours of 11-4pm. The proceeds
of this sale will benefit the senior class gift. Please contact
CLEWISPHD@aol.com if you are interested and put “homecoming pizza” in the
subject line.


3. Family Senior Event (early June – exact date TBA). Many
volunteers will ultimately be needed, but for now we are recruiting a
volunteer(s) to help with the end year of student/family slide show.
Hopefully someone with skills in computer and photo editing.


*Important dates to mark on your calendars: *


1. Thursday, *September 22*, starting at 6:45pm. *Back-to-School-Night*,
Smith Meeting Room (NOTE this location is NEW): Advisors will distribute
student schedules from 7:15 – 7:25 p.m. To enable the evening to run
smoothly, please know the name of your child’s advisor.


2. Friday, *November 18* is now a *no school* day for US---a calendar
revision since the short calendar was sent this summer. Nov 18 will be used
for 9th grade parent teacher conferences


3. *October 20-22*, Next-to-New Sale
