All, For the last couple of days we have been hearing rumors that the USPSTF was finally going to release its new recommendations on prostate cancer early detection. The new recommendation, based on data from 2009 will shift prostate cancer early detection from a grade of "I" inconclusive to "D" not recommended as the harms most likely outweigh the benefits. CNN and others are now reporting that the new recommendations will be handed down on Monday. It is imperative that you and your doctors weigh in on this immediately. I have attached a link to the CNN story. We are working with our champions in Congress to construct a response to this change. I will give you more information as we get it. Time is of the essence. http://www.cnn.com/2011/10/06/health/prostate-screening/index.html?iref=allsearch --Skip -- Skip Lockwood President and CEO ZERO -- The Project to End Prostate Cancer 10 G St., NE Suite 601 Washington, DC 20002 202-463-9455 (main) 202-463-9456 (fax) Virginia Office: 515 King St. Suite 420 Alexandria, VA 22304 www.zerocancer.org Twitter: www.twitter.com/digitalskip Facebook: ZERO — The Project to End Prostate Cancer Combined Federal Campaign #12161 ______________________________________
