Date: Monday, October 24, 2011 Time: 4pm or 5pm (either before or after a panel discussion) Site: State Department Loy Auditorium Audience: 300 invited guests consisting of business and NGO leaders, Members of Congress, administration officials, members of the diplomatic corps and others. The event is open to the media. The proposed keynote address will focus on the link between global stability, US national security and food security. We are currently allocating 15-20 minutes for the speech but can adjust the time. The address can be delivered either before or after the panel discussion that focuses on private sector involvement in addressing global hunger (panelists include Howard Buffett, Raj Shah and Greg Page - the CEO of Cargill). Following the global hunger conference (which consists of the referenced panel discussion and keynote address), Secretary Clinton will present Bill Gates and Howard Buffett with our award for their leadership in addressing global hunger. As part of the award ceremony, Clinton, Gates, Buffett and Josette Sheeran (ED of WFP) will participate in a "conversation about global hunger" with particular emphasis on the Purchase for Progress program that was launched by Gates & Buffett and is being implemented by WFP. This program is an example of the types of efforts being supported by the administration's Feed the Future initiative. Please let me know if you need any additional information. Thank you very much.
