Dear Seniors, Please read so you are aware of these important reminders: As you are aware this Thursday, November 1, 2018 is a deadline date for many institutions with Early Decision and Early Action. The deadline is at 11:59 pm in your local time zone on Thursday, November 1. We strongly encourage you not to wait until the last minute to submit your application as the common application site can “slow down.” STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES: · Submit application(s), essays, and application fee by deadline date · Submit your SAT I or ACT scores by logging into your College Board or ACT account. NOTE: SFS CCO does not submit SAT/ACT scores · If student has outside recommenders - submit outside recommendation(s) COLLEGE COUNSELING REPONSIBILITIES: · CCO submits student transcript(s) · CCO submits Sidwell teacher recommendations · CCO submits college counselor recommendation · 3rd College Workshop -The presentation from the third workshop that took place this week - https://prezi.com/view/nv6GUQchYxJ3Gm8zZooh/ * Early Decision and Financial Aid: If a student is applying Early Decision and is interested in financial aid, the student and parents/guardians must file the FAFSA form - https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa (required by all colleges) and the CSS profile https://cssprofile.collegeboard.org/ (required by several colleges/list on CSS website) * Guide to filling out FAFSA form - https://www.edvisors.com/fafsa/forms/guide-to-fafsa-web-site/ * Teacher Recommendations - Students do not need to remind teachers regarding recommendations as long as student has logged the teacher name(s) in your college counselor Log In book (1st page) and filled out the google form last spring and/or this fall. * College Log In Book – If a student has a Nov 15, November 30 or December 1 deadline – student must have it logged into the log in book by November 1, 2018 * Senior Pre-Excused Forms - If a senior plans on using one of three pre-excused days, please pick up form (green form) in the CCO. The signed and completed form must be handed in to Ms. Matthews well in advance of the excused date. If not - you will receive points. * College Counseling SFS Deadlines – * October 1: Students must write in the log book any schools with an October 15 deadline. * October 5: This is the last day that students can submit essays for an October 15 application deadline that we can guarantee will be reviewed. * October 22: Students must write in the log book any schools with a November 1 deadline. * October 26: This is the last day that students can submit essays for a November 1 application deadline that we can guarantee will be reviewed. * November 1: Students must write in the log book any schools with a November 15, November 30 December 1 deadline. * November 5: This is the last day that students can submit essays for a November 15 application deadline that we can guarantee will be reviewed. * December 3: Students must write in the log book any remaining schools for regular decision. * December 19: This is the last day that students can submit essays for a January 1/15 deadline that we can guarantee will be reviewed * Just to reiterate the dates of the 4 quarters that were emailed to you by the Academic Dean: * Below are the dates for 2018-19 Academic Quarters: * Quarter 1: 9/4 to 10/18 * Quarter 2: 10/22 to 1/18 * Quarter 3: 1/22 to 3/7 * Quarter 4: 3/11 to 5/3 * Colleges visiting the rest of the fall 2018 – Remember the college visit list is always being added to as colleges are still contacting us – so check the CCO website regularly for any additions.
