_2011 DAGA Fall Policy Conference
_September 14-15, 2011_
_Sonoma, CA_

Last week in Sonoma, CA, DAGA hosted the most widely attended conference to
date with 13 Attorneys General, 2 candidates and almost 300 supports! A
special thanks to our Attorneys General in attendance and supporters for
joining us! We’d also like to thank our event sponsors for their support and
for making the conference a success!

__Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell has essentially clinched
reelection this week after his only challenger, former US Rep. Joe Cao (R),
withdrew from the race. Democrats did not field a candidate.

After announcing in April that he intended to run, Rep. Cao officially filed
for the election in early September. A summer of slow campaign fundraising
though led the first Vietnamese American congressman to drop out of the race
on Tuesday.

General Caldwell made news this February when he changed parties from
Democrat to Republican, a switch which has led some Republicans to challenge
his conservative credentials. Caldwell has been endorsed by Republican
Junior Senator David Vitter who cited his stance against the Health Care Law
as one of the many reasons Caldwell is a true conservative.

Attorney General Buddy Caldwell effectively won re-election Monday as his
only opponent -- former Rep. Anh "Joseph" Cao, R-New Orleans -- announced
that he is bowing out of the race.

Utah state attorneys said in a court filing Tuesday that federal authorities
might get involved in a lawsuit challenging the state's tough immigration
enforcement law that civil rights groups argue is unconstitutional.

[4]Kroger files for re-election
Statesman Journal – September 8, 2011
John Kroger made it official Wednesday that he will seek a second term as
attorney general. The announcement by the Democratic incumbent, and a tour
of five Oregon cities, preceded today's opening of filing for the primary
election on May 15.
