Hunter, My crazy old boss at the JCP John Chambers (used to work for Sen. Ford) has a daughter Whitney who I've basically taken on as my own these past few years especially. She's been caught between some really nasty stuff between her mom and dad and through it all managed to graduate a semester EARLY from Bryn Mawr college with a degree in economics all the while holding down THREE part time jobs (math tutor, shuttle bus driver, teaching assistant, baker, etc). She is super responsible (maybe too much for her own good) and super realistic (maybe too much so) and I've had to push her to get this much out of her (below). She's the kind of kid that people would actually thank you for sending her to work for them. The job she's applied for is so like her--solidly within her skill set and not over-reaching. Do you know anyone at Fannie Mae I could call to help get her an interview for the entry level job that she has applied for and is still under consideration for as per below? I am happy to call them myself, I just wondered if you had someone at Fannie Mae I could call. I don’t do this very often but this kid is incredibly deserving and would make a GREAT entry level employee in any math/econ/analyst field. I might encourage her to look at what entry level positions might be open at commerce too. Have more contacts there! Thank you very much for putting that list together. Hope to have "Codependent No More" shipped to our library in a few days. I finally received a response - albeit disappointing- from Fannie Mae regarding two of the three positions I applied to. However, I'm still "under consideration" for the following job: Loan Operations Specialist I - Investor Reporting - Defined Duration Assignment-Job #: 30341. I'm sorry I've been dragging my feet on getting the information to you. Please know how glad I am to have your support and sage advice through all my trials, not least of all getting my foot in the door to the professional world. Mom is doing a million times better since we last spoke. This makes me a very happy girl. I'm happier still to learn she'll finally be going through with her knee operation next week after postponing the original date of surgery. Today she completed all her pre-op tests. Yay! Well, how have you guys been? How's Nick's foot? <3 Whitney ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sara Biden" <sbiden@lionhallgp.com> To: "Whitney Chambers" <wchambers@brynmawr.edu> Sent: Friday, September 16, 2011 5:53:03 PM Subject: Books and Jobs Hey! It took me a while to poll my fellow codependents. The best author is Melody Beatty. The Book I read was “CoDependent No More”. There is a newer one for “today’s generation” (I think you qualify) called “The New CoDependency”. MANY people love “The Language of Letting Go.” Also I looked on her website and there is an intriquing one that I may get myself called: “Make Miracles in 40 days”. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of these. I wanted to send one to you but wasn’t sure where to send. Much love to you and your mom. Sara P.s. did you email me the specific positions that your applications are pending for? I need that info to try to get an interview. Xoxo, Sara B. =
