Hello Seniors,

We hope that you enjoy a safe and fun Homecoming Weekend.

Please read so you are aware of these important reminders:


· Early Decision and Financial Aid: If a student is applying Early Decision and is interested in Financial Aid, the Student and Parents/Guardians must file the FAFSA form - https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa (required by all colleges) and the CSS profile https://cssprofile.collegeboard.org/ (required by several colleges/ list on CSS website)

· Teacher Recommendations - Students do not need to remind teachers regarding recommendations as long as student has logged the teacher name(s) in your College Counselor Log In book (1st page) and filled out the google form last spring and/or this fall.


* College Log In Book – All seniors should be coming into the CCO to list colleges into their log in sheet. The last day to log in a school for a November 1 deadline is October 22 but you are more than welcome to come in prior to the deadline to list schools. In no way do you need to complete your final list of colleges at that time. You are welcome to list institutions that you know for certain that you are applying and add additional institutions later.


* November 1 Application Deadline - If you have an Early Action or Early Decision application deadline of November 1st, you must list it in the log in book no later than October 22, 2018.


* Senior Pre Excused Forms - If a senior plans on using one of three pre excused days, please pick up form (green form) in the CCO. The signed and completed form must be handed in to Ms. Matthews well in advance of the excused date. If not - you will receive points.


* One on One Student College Counselor appointment – If you have not done so….. Remember you need to contact Jacki Morillas (morillasj@sidwell.edu<mailto:morillasj@sidwell.edu>) regarding a one on one appointment with your college counselor. When you email Jackie – please include your free periods as that will assist her immensely in setting up the appointment. Remember, the CCO’s new location is on the lower level of Zartman. Students have access to the back door from 8 am – 4 pm.


* College Counseling SFS Deadlines –


* October 1: Students must write in the log book any schools with an October 15 deadline.
* October 5: This is the last day that students can submit essays for an October 15 application deadline that we can guarantee will be reviewed.


* October 22: Students must write in the log book any schools with a November 1 deadline.
* October 26: This is the last day that students can submit essays for a November 1 application deadline that we can guarantee will be reviewed.


* November 1: Students must write in the log book any schools with a November 15 deadline.
* November 5: This is the last day that students can submit essays for a November 15 application deadline that we can guarantee will be reviewed.


* December 3: Students must write in the log book any remaining schools for regular decision.
* December 19: This is the last day that students can submit essays for a January 1/15 deadline that we can guarantee will be reviewed


* Just to reiterate the dates of the 4 quarters that were emailed to you by the Academic Dean:
* Below are the dates for 2018-19 Academic Quarters:
* Quarter 1: 9/4 to 10/18
* Quarter 2: 10/22 to 1/18
* Quarter 3: 1/22 to 3/7
* Quarter 4: 3/11 to 5/3


* Financial Aid Information-


* Financial Aid Presentation this past Wednesday night. If you were unable to attend the Financial Aid Presentation- please see the attached handouts in this email.


* Colleges visiting this week - – Remember the college visit list is always being added to as colleges are still contacting us – so check the CCO website regularly for any additions.
