Seattle and Portland 60th Anniversary Events

Saturday, May 14 (Seattle) & Saturday, June 18 (Portland)
Every year JVC Northwest brings together former and current JVs, JV EnCorps members,
Jesuits, Board members, staff, family, and friends to celebrate the service of our
volunteers and raise money for the sustainability of our organization. This coming
year, as we will be commemorating 60 years of rich history, we will celebrate in
both Seattle (5/14/16) and Portland (6/18/16). Mark your calendars now and prepare

Fr. Jack Morris, S.J. Memorial Award

Nominations due by March 31st
The Fr. Jack Morris, S.J. Memorial Award honors a former Jesuit Volunteer or friend
of Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest who is inspired by and lives out the four values
of JVC Northwest. The first award was given out at the 2013 Seattle Event following
Jack's passing in September, 2012 and will once again be given out at our Seattle
gathering on May 14, 2016. The full award description and nomination form can be

Former Volunteer Retreat
April 22-24, 2016 Chicago, IL and Troutdale, OR
JVC Northwest, in partnership with Brethren Volunteer Service (BVS) and Mission
Year, will offer retreats for former volunteers at the Darst Center in Chicago,
IL and Camp Crestview in Troutdale, OR the weekend of April 22-24. If you are looking
to explore or deepen your understanding of the alignment of passion and purpose
on your unique spiritual and professional journeys, this retreat is for you. More

Join the Conversation: FJV Alumni Chapters
Meet with our Alumni Coordinator in Chicago, IL; St. Louis, MO; Indianapolis, IN;
and Milwaukee, WI in April 2016
Our Alumni Coordinator, Sarah Jones, is hitting the road! Meet up with Sarah and
other former volunteers (FJVs) during the month of April in Chicago, St. Louis,
Indianapolis, and Milwaukee. As we celebrate our 60 year history of Jesuit Volunteer
service, we want to honor and gather all of our FJVs who bring our mission to life
on a daily basis across the country. These gatherings will provide space to connect
with others in your area, learn more about 60th Anniversary events and opportunities,
and engage in meaningful dialogue about creating vibrant alumni chapters in your

Challenge Yourself: First Values Challenge coming in April
How do you connect with JVC Northwest's core values of simple living, community,
social & ecological justice, and spirituality? We invite you to deepen this commitment
during the 60th Anniversary celebrations. Join other Former JVs virtually or in
person as we recommit to the values in our daily lives. Throughout 2016 we will
focus on each of the values and deepen our understanding of each value; in April

60th Anniversary FJV 50K Team Relay Race

April 9, 2016 Forest Park, Portland, OR
The JVC Northwest 50K relay is a trail race running the entire length of the Wildwood
Trail in Forest Park, followed by a celebratory lunch/reunion for participants,
friends, and family. The event will be part of JVC Northwest's 60th Anniversary
celebrations. Teams can range from 1-5 people, and although there is no entry fee,
each team member is asked to give or fundraise $50. Day-of race volunteers are also
needed in case you want to be involved but do not want to run. All the details and

Women's Justice Circles
The voices of women who are low-income and/or immigrant, living in crisis and those
on the margins are not typically included in organizing for change in a way that
meets their needs. The Intercommunity Peace & Justice Center facilitates Women's
Justice Circles where women develop grassroots leadership and organizing skills
to take action and create systemic change. Circles are run in Spanish and English
and can be organized at no cost to your agency. Justice Circles have formed in 52
cities in the Pacific Northwest, Midwest, and East Coast. If you would like more

From Mission to Mission provides space for domestic and international volunteers
and missioners from any program, university, or diocese to debrief and reflect
after their term of service.
