Hi folks, I wanted to just briefly update you on how the foundation will raise money this year. I’ll have another email coming shortly about our roll out in (I hope) the first week of April. I’ve scaled back the fundraising projections for this year so as not to step on any other Biden fundraising that may be occurring. Most of our fundraising will be program specific underwriting: Darkness To Light: Program Cost $120k over two years. We’ve approached CSC (through Ian McConnell), BofA (Tony Allen), and WSFS (Mark Turner) about funding our Darkness to Light program at 20k each over two years. I suspect all of them will come through. We will also reach out to Highmark (BCBS insurance affiliate here), and two local foundations. The goal would be to raise between 80 - 120k for this program. Safe To Compete: Program Cost $150k over 12 months. Our target here will be, JPM, Christina Care and perhaps another union. We thought we could go after Barclay’s for this program, but they’re more workforce education focused. NAAG: 12k per fellowship, so 12k this year. I’m proud to say we’ve already raised $1,000 for the NAAG fellowship. This program will fund itself - through folks who support DAGA and RAGA. NetSmartz: Patty and I are working on the programming specifics for NetSmartz Wednesday and Thursday. Right now I see minimal cost associated with this program. I want to reiterate that we have enough in the bank to fund these programs for two years and raise not one dollar. I talked to Sam Lathem about having the DE AFL help underwrite some of these programs. His suggestion was to skip the AFL and go to an int’l like IAFF or Laborers. He said 20k would be too much for a local here to foot, and that going to an int’l would be best. My thought would be to start with the Laborers and IAFF, with whom I have the best relationships, plus the teachers folks and the Steelworkers, AFSCME, etc. We’ll talk more about this, as I think this folds in better with our national outreach. The requests for actual fundraisers that people want to host for us are flooding in. Some are big, some are small. I’m deferring most of these for now - we need to get our programming set and funded before we think to far down the pike. The only exception to that is an event in the Hamptons, hosted by the Greek Orthodox Church’s Hamptons parish. It’s an event they do every year. This year, it’s August 27. Fr. Alex thinks we’ll be able to raise about 200k+. I think it makes sense to do, but am waiting a month or so to confirm. I suspect this is something you folks would want to do, right? Thank you for your time. /ja Joshua Alcorn 302/295.8340 (office) 302/598.1885 (cell) josh@beaubidenfoundation.org
