The Boston Globe Commentary March 8, 2016 Fariborz S. Fatemi The recent report that Prime Minister Netanyahu has cancelled his planned trip to the United States is welcome news. It shows that perhaps the P.M. has finally learned the bitter lessons of his failed meddling in America's politics. First with his support for loser Mitt Romney and then his failed attempts to sabotage the historic agreement with Iran. Not wanting to appear to be injecting himself in the political primary process is a wise decision. As is finally showing his respect for President Obama who has done more than any other President for the security of Israel. The P.M. knows that Israeli administrations that throughout the years have been so dependent on sympathetic US governments should not be biting the hand that provides such robust support. To do so can only contribute to weakening the "special relationship" that Israel has enjoyed with the US since its founding.
