Sen. Bernie Sanders won Utah's Democratic caucuses on Tuesday, according to The Associated Press.

The victory is a much-needed boost for Sanders, who has been hoping to capture a string of wins in Western caucus states.

Clinton had enjoyed the support of some of the biggest name Democratic elected officials in the state: both Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski and Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams had endorsed the former secretary of state. But Sanders had attracted large crowds when he campaigned there, including one rally where the campaign reported attendance of 14,000.

Utah has 37 delegates, which it awards on a proportional basis.
